Sowing seeds in Autumn

Sowing seeds in Autumn

It's sowing season!

Planting vegetable seeds now in early autumn will give you plenty of veggies to harvest throughout late autumn, winter and spring.  Sow seeds of Asian greens, beetroot, broccoli, cabbage, carrot, cauliflower, endive, leeks, lettuce, onions, parsley, parsnip, radish, rocket, silver beet, snow peas, spinach, Swede and turnip.

Sowing seeds in their location as opposed to trans planting seedlings may seem slower but in the end you will get a better outcome.  It takes about 6 weeks to produce most seedlings which will be acclimatized, more productive and is a cheaper option. That's one of the reasons why you are growing vegetables - right?  Of course the main reason is you get to eat local seasonal produce if you sow your own seeds.

Over the fifteen years we have been in business we have been extremely happy with Mr Fothergill's seeds.  You can purchase yours in store at Millthorpe Garden Nursery.
